Travelers planning to visit China have a reason to celebrate! The National Immigration Administration has announced significant updates to the visa-free transit policy, making it easier than ever to explore China during your layover or transit.
Here are the highlights of this exciting new policy:

1. Extended Stay: 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit
Previously, eligible travelers could enjoy either a 72-hour or 144-hour visa-free stay in designated areas of China. Starting December 17, 2024, this duration has been extended to an incredible 240 hours — that’s a full 10 days! Imagine the possibilities of exploring China’s vibrant cities, stunning landscapes, and rich culture without the hassle of applying for a visa.
2. More Entry and Exit Points
The policy now covers 21 additional ports, increasing the total number of eligible entry and exit points to 60. This means more flexibility for travelers when planning their trips and choosing their transit routes. Whether you’re flying into Beijing, Shanghai, or one of China’s emerging travel hubs, the chances are high that you’ll find a convenient port to enjoy the visa-free policy.
3. Expanded Regions to Explore
The areas you can explore during your transit have also been expanded. With this policy update, five new provinces have been added to the list: Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hainan, and Guizhou. These regions are home to breathtaking scenery, cultural treasures, and off-the-beaten-path experiences that will make your trip unforgettable.

Citizens from 54 countries are eligible for the visa-free transit policy. Here is the full list:
