Welcome Thailand to the China Visa Free Club
China and Thailand entered into a mutual visa exemption agreement today (28 Jan 2024), which is scheduled to become effective on March 1, 2024. Speaking at a media briefing after the signing ceremony in Bangkok alongside his Thai counterpart Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that this agreement would boost tourism in Thailand and facilitate travel for Chinese tourists. Additionally, he noted that it would foster greater mutual understanding between the citizens of the two nations
Previous Visa Exemption Policy
China has also been proactive in relaxing visa requirements to encourage inbound tourism. In November 2023, China launched a visa-free trial for visitors from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia. This policy, which began in December 2023 and is planned to run until the end of November 2024. China later announced visa exemption policy for Switzerland, Ireland and Singapore. Visa application process is also simplified for Americans.
