🏍️ The Story Behind Your Ride
Did you know Chongqing is known as the motorcycle capital of China?
Unlike other major cities where bikes are banned or restricted, Chongqing’s steep hills and winding roads make motorcycles the most natural way to move through the city. What started as a necessity has grown into a proud local culture — built on freedom, passion, and resilience. 🌃🏍️
But it’s not just about transportation — it’s about identity.
In 2022, when wildfires broke out on Jinyun Mountain, local bikers formed spontaneous volunteer brigades, riding deep into the mountains with water, food, and supplies. That fearless spirit earned them the nickname “烈火骑士” (Knights of Fire).
Behind the cinematic vibes, motorcycling here is an expensive hobby. Most riders have full-time jobs and offer city rides or video shoots on the side — helping them keep their bikes running and their love for riding alive.
Since 2025, China Insider has partnered with these local riders to support this underground culture — and give international travelers like you a real taste of Chongqing on two wheels.
We’re just a small team doing our best to bring you the raw, real China — as your China bestie 🫡
