Harbin Ice& Snow World – Due to the temperature raising 🌡️ and windy weather, the ice blocks are melting faster than expected. It will soon become unsafe to visit. So the Ice & Snow World Harbin will officially close on 15 Feb 2024 this year. Much earlier than previously announced. They are removing the ice buildings right now. All the tickets after that date are refundable from the channel you purchased. Guess we will have to meet the ice wonderland next year 👋🥺Spread the news so people don’t come for nothing ❤️🩹
Where is Harbin?
Harbin, located in northeastern China, is the capital of Heilongjiang Province. Historically, it was a small fishing village until the late 19th century when it became a major stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway. This development brought significant Russian influence, evident in Harbin’s architecture and culture. Over the years, Harbin evolved into a major political, economic, and cultural center in northeastern Asia. Its rich history, combined with the unique blend of Chinese and Russian influences, has made Harbin a distinctive and popular destination for tourists, especially for its renowned winter festivals and ice sculptures.
An extraordinary winter wonderland, this park features large-scale ice sculptures and buildings made from blocks of ice taken directly from the Songhua River. It’s a magical experience, especially at night when the sculptures are lit up with colorful lights.
This event opens every year from mid December to late February or early March. This year it will close on 15 Feb 2024.
Harbin Polarland is a unique polar-themed park in Harbin, showcasing an array of polar wildlife, including penguins, polar bears, and beluga whales. With engaging animal shows and interactive experiences, it’s both entertaining and educational, highlighting polar ecosystems. The Songhua River Ice and Snow Carnival is a seasonal event in Harbin. It transforms the banks of the Songhua River into a winter-themed park. It features a variety of free entertainment options suitable for all ages, evoking childhood fun. A highlight is the 130-meter, 6-lane snow circle that offers panoramic views of the Songhua River. Unique attractions like hot air balloon rides in cold weather enhance the experience. The carnival forms part of Harbin’s renowned ice and snow festival celebrations, known for their spectacular ice sculptures and activities.
Ever imagined a Russian-Chinese fusion? Discover it at Volga Manor, a breathtaking medieval-themed park 29km from St. Sophia Square in Chenggaozi. Surrounded by enchanting woodlands, a river, and a timber bridge, it’s an ideal spot for scenic walks and fresh air. The Manor features a hotel, restaurant, traditional Russian banya (sauna), and twice-daily dance shows at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. It’s a perfect family getaway, offering a unique blend of cultures and experiences. They offer accomadations too!
Saint Sophia Cathedral in Harbin. It is a prominent historical and architectural landmark. Built in 1907 during Russian rule, it’s a fine example of Byzantine architecture and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the region. The cathedral’s distinct green domes and red walls make it a visual highlight in Harbin. Now functioning as a museum, it showcases Harbin’s architectural history and development. It’s a popular tourist attraction, especially for those interested in the cultural and historical blending of Russian and Chinese influences.
Central Street (Zhongyang Dajie) is a bustling commercial hub and a key tourist attraction, known for its unique blend of architectural styles. Established in the late 19th century, the street showcases buildings in Renaissance, Baroque, and other European styles. Stretching over a kilometer, it’s lined with various shops, restaurants, and cafes.
