Baijia Ban Sichuan Opera: 28 RMB, 60 Minutes, No Crowds
28 RMB gets you an hour of Sichuan opera at 百家班川剧, on the third floor of the Maoyebaihuo Department Store in Jinjiang district, opposite the Chunxi Road bronze statue. One visitor spent the money expecting little and came away calling it the best value of her Chengdu trip — interactive, no hidden fees, and no crush of people.
The show runs 60 minutes. She suggests the evening slot for atmosphere, and says row 11 gives the best view: far enough back that photos come out, close enough to see the faces.
There are no online reservations. You queue in person for a numbered ticket, so her method was to collect an evening number in the morning and spend the afternoon around IFS nearby. Skip the extra 8 RMB tea ticket — the performers pour for others anyway, and watching that is better than being poured for.
Metro Line 2 or 3 to Chunxi Road, exit D, then three minutes on foot.
