Xi'an Millennium Show: 3,000 Tons of Flood Water On Stage
The climax of 西安千古情 (Xi'an Millennium Show) is a wall of water: 3,000 tons of it pouring down onto the stage, with tonnes of yellow sand blowing out over the front rows at the same moment. It is a large-scale live-action production, and the physical effects are the reason people go.
One visitor's verdict is that the filmed version undersells it — on site the noise, the spray and the sand hitting the air are the show. Front rows get the sand. Whether that counts as a bonus or a reason to book further back depends on how you feel about grit in your hair.
Tickets for the show are the one thing worth sorting before you arrive in Xi'an, since big-format productions sell out on peak dates. Checking a few sellers side by side takes a minute:

The production is staged in Xi'an and built around Chinese history rather than a single story, staged as spectacle first. Go for the staging, not for a quiet evening.
