Palace Shanghai Flagship Store at Historic Zhangyuan
British streetwear powerhouse Palace opened its first mainland China store in Shanghai's historic Zhangyuan complex in May 2026, marking a significant cultural moment for both skate culture and Shanghai's retail scene. Located in the restored heritage complex in Jing'an District, the store sits among late 19th-century lilong houses and traditional courtyards.
What to Expect
The interior features stone tiles and limestone materials traditional to the region, with gold and red accents reflecting Chinese rituals, while a central pavilion structure inspired by garden architecture creates an immersive shopping experience. To celebrate the opening, Palace launched a Shanghai-exclusive capsule collection including biker jackets, sports jerseys, hoodies, T-shirts, and accessories branded with 'Shang-Hi' logos and waving hand motifs.
How to Get There
The store is located at Unit W1-1A, Zhangyuan, 280 Maoming North Road, Jing'an District. The nearest metro is Shaanxi South Road Station on Lines 1, 10, and 12, about a 700-meter walk. Zhangyuan is right next to HKRI Taikoo Hui, making it easily accessible from the West Nanjing Road shopping district.
Store Details
Palace Shanghai is open Sunday through Friday 10am-10pm, and Saturday 11am-10pm. The store uses an entry raffle system, particularly for popular releases. Based on global Palace pricing, expect T-shirts around 600-800 RMB and hoodies 1,200-1,500 RMB, though exact Shanghai prices weren't confirmed.
Why It Matters
Palace has engaged Shanghai's local skate community extensively, hiring staff from the scene and treating them as co-owners of the space rather than just customers. The brand also collaborated with a local xiaolongbao restaurant, showing its commitment to embedding in Shanghai's cultural fabric rather than just selling streetwear.
